Our VDES Certification Platform for TÜV SÜD
S3C recently collaborated with TÜV SÜD, the international powerhouse of maritime hardware certification and standardisation, to produce a VDES platform for the certification of new VDES products. The significance of this platform is the immediate and practical implementation of the next generation of AIS products that needs to be VDES compatible into the greater maritime theatre.
AIS is the popular maritime vessel tracking technology used globally for safety related and other navigational purposes. VDES is the most significant upgrade of AIS and represents a data link upgrade with effective data transfer up to 32 times faster than with AIS, issuing in new opportunities for enhanced safety, monitoring, navigation, and other modern maritime data-exchange based services and applications.
